Rashi explains, and they shall make for My Name a house of holiness. Rashi emphasizes the correct attitude and proper intention one must have when donating to the Mishkan. A person is measured by the degree of his spiritual development which is realized through his relationship with holy sources. One source is man’s soul which is a minute fragment that is Divinely inspired. Another source is the dimension of time, namely shabbos during which one can experience spirituality. The Mishkan is a place in this world where one can attach himself to a source of holiness. This can only occur if one’s relationship to the Mishkan is for the sake of heaven. One’s relationship with Hashem through the Mishkan is reciprocal – one’s actions for the sake of heaven in return for holiness gained. This can be compared to a full cup of water; one can only pour into it, if some of the original water is poured out. We have to make room for the holiness to enter our being. “hk uagu” – according to the amount of “hnak” (for My sake) that you perform, “ofu,c h,bfau” – I will then reside equally within you.
